Get Involved,
Make the Difference

We have many ways for you to be involved.

We are a community-based initiative that relies on the energy, talent and contribution of gay men and our allies. In addition to meeting other terrific guys who are also out to make a difference in our communities. Whatever experience you bring to these efforts, you will have the experience of being appreciated, valued and honored. There are many ways to be involved, including these opportunities:

  • Participate in a small group discussion
These small group discussions are limited in size, generally limited to 8-10 guys. In these groups we talk about the many philosophical and practical issues we face as men who love men. Upcoming discussions topics include fitness and body image, faith and spirituality, gay and aging, and a host of others. Another way to participate is to host a conversation... you come up with the topic and we’ll help support and promote your conversation. See the calendar section for upcoming discussions.
  • Help plan and
    coordinate community events
Community events and celebrations are a great way to come together as community. Whether it’s a town hall meeting, a special occasion, or one of our many social mixers, these events are driven by community input and participation. Our events are designed to focus on those things that we have in common while creating spaces that are welcoming to all gay men. If you have a flair for the dramatic or if you’re just a really great detail person, consider serving on the event production team. Please contact the Gay Men’s Wellness Initiative staff at (303) 619-6810.
  • Be a part of our
    community outreach team
If you aren’t afraid to talk to strangers and like to meet new people, this might be the most rewarding experience you can find. Our outreach teams go out periodically to events, activities, clubs and other venues to promote what’s going on in our community. Because we’re out to support all aspects of our community, we will often promote activities for other groups and clubs as well as promoting our program-specific materials. More important, community outreach team members are making connections with people in our community and inspiring them to more connected…to themselves, to their friends and to their communities. Our community outreach volunteers complete two training sessions and are supervised by program staff.
  • Join our
    communications and operations team
We’re always in need of behind-the-scenes helpers to assist with communications and operations. While we will use the internet and e-mail as communications tools, we’ve envisioned voice communications to be our primary means to coordinate with our volunteers, with those who are interested in a small group discussion or those who simply have questions about what we’re doing. Our operations teams provides support for both the outreach team and the production team, coordinating the community calendar, talking with our collaborators and assisting with logistics for the Gay Men’s Wellness Initiative. This team is the backbone of these efforts.
